Solotech Sales & Integration is currently recruiting an
Senior Installation Technician for our Ottawa / Gatineau office serving the National Capital Region as well as our Kingston office.
The Senior Installation Technician will report to the Manager of Installations – NCR. A well motivated and organized individual will enjoy the challenges and rewards that this position offers.
Main responsabilities:
- The proper installation, configuration and start-up of the equipment sold by Solotech;
- Act as team leader for Solotech’s technicians and sub-contractors on installations;
- Pass on and share his knowledge with Solotech’s other technicians
- Maintain up-to-date and trained on audio visual products and technologies;
- Work in close collaboration with the Project Manager;
- Represent Solotech with regards to clients and suppliers;
- Assist the other members of the Installation Department team with their tasks related to the technical aspects of
the project.
Tasks:
- The proper installation, configuration and start-up of the equipment sold by Solotech;
- Coordinate with other trades on the job site;
- Distribute tasks to other technicians and / or sub-contractors and ensure the quality of their work;
- Communicate the job site’s needs in equipment, materials and labour to the Project Manager in order to maintain
proper progress;
- Maintain the tools and truck that are assigned to you in good condition;
- Maintain the inventory of hardware and wiring in the truck up-to-date and in sufficient quantity to meet the needs of
the job site;
- Ensure that the work is carried out according to all health and safety requirements;
- Read and follow all of the technical drawings (block diagrams, single line drawings, architectural and structural
plans, rigging details etc.);
- Provide training to other installers;
- Participate in the preparation of the manuals to be remitted to clients;
- Participate in training sessions on new technologies and products;
- Participate in team meetings;
- All other associated tasks required by the department and the company.
General criteria:
- Excellent written and spoken English. Spoken and written French an asset;
- Must be able to collaborate with Francophone staff in Gatineau;
- 3 to 5 years experience in the AV installation and integration field;
- Certified for AV programming and / or electronics;
- Own a vehicle to be able to get to work and a valid driver’s licence. Work related mileage will be compensated;
- Flexible and able to adapt to situations and individuals;
- Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously with extremely tight schedules;
- Autonomous, rigorous and disciplined;
- Able to plan and manage;
- Able to analyze and solve problems;
- Able to properly manage priorities;
- Comfortable with and efficient in team work;
- Available occasionally on evenings and available to work flexible hours i.e. start at 6am or finish at midnight on
occasions.
Specific criteria:
- Must know how to work with a computer under Windows environment;
- Good knowledge of the following software is an asset: Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio, MS Project and
AutoCAD;
- Knowledge of sound, lighting, video and/or videoconference equipment;
- Able to travel within the territory of the National Capital and Kingston with their own car. Work related mileage will
be compensated;
- Able to obtain security clearance.
