Kirk Crossing

Named after the Scottish word for church, a nod to the Presbyterian traditional homeland, The Kirk of the Hills opened its doors in November 1961 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Half a century later, The Kirk congregation is more prevalent than ever, expanding in October 2014 to a second campus in Jenks, OK, named Kirk Crossing, which can welcome up to 500 worshippers.

To ensure the best audio experience for worshippers and future members, church officials entrusted JSS, a Solotech brand specializing in systems integration, well-known in the House of Worship sector (Elevate Life Church, The Church on 68, Gateway Church, Concord West Hills, etc.), to design and install Kirk Crossing’s sound system. The installation consisted of a combination of loudspeaker products from PreSonus’ WorxAudio TrueLine catalog, including two XL5i-P line arrays, two XQ10i-P extended bass loudspeakers, and four TL118i-P sub bass enclosures.

Along with the sound installation, the JSS teams also worked on the other production elements of the worship service, ensuring that the congregation experiences the best visual solutions available, from video to lighting. To that end, they installed Vivitek projectors, Crestron DigitalMedia video switchers and integrated control, Martin Lighting’s stage lighting fixtures and controller, as well as Chroma-Q’s Inspire pendant house light fixtures.

The most gratifying reward is recalled by Jason Spence, Director Sales and Systems Integration at JSS, “One of the church members stated: ‘For the first time in 20 years, I could understand everything the pastor said. I enjoyed every aspect of the service, and all without my hearing aids.’ I honestly don’t know if it gets any better than that.”
