As a world leader in audiovisual and entertainment technology, Solotech has brilliantly supported numerous well-known projects around the world since its creation: Resorts World Las Vegas, Celine Dion, Bridgestone Arena, Taylor Swift, Burj Khalifa, Caesars Palace, Elton John, The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, Lady Gaga, Ascot Racecourse, Paul McCartney, Montreal International Jazz Festival and Ubisoft, to name a few!  

For decades, customer needs have inspired us to consistently deliver the best of technology and the best of ourselves. 1976

Denis Lefrançois receives the mandate from the Organizing Committee of the Montreal Olympic Games to handle all the audio for the Montreal Olympics.

1977

Solotech is created. Thanks to founders Denis Lefrançois and André Riendeau, in just one year they triple their revenues and quickly begin a series of acquisitions, and expansions, and establish some very important long-term relationships.

1981

A lease agreement for the Montreal International Jazz Festival is established. Then in 1982, rental agreements for Céline Dion begin.

1984

Though previously entirely dedicated to sound, Solotech now adds lighting. The first contracts with Cirque du Soleil start.

1990

Solotech adds another expertise to its offer: video.

1995

Solotech's offerings keep growing with the addition of multimedia expertise.

2007

The opening of a new office in Las Vegas, Nevada. The first in the United States.

2010

The Montreal head office moves to its current location, a 265,000 sq. ft. facility in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve neighborhood.

2013

Solotech has three new strategic shareholders: Claridge Inc., Desjardins Capital and Investissement Québec (IQ).

2014

The acquisition of Toronto-based Midnite Hour and PA and the start of rental operations in Toronto.

2016

Opening of two new offices: one in Nashville and the other in Chicago.

2017

- Appointment of new President and CEO of Solotech, Martin Tremblay.
- Appointment of Martin Chouinard as President of the Live Productions Division, Canada.
- Appointment of Philip Giffard as President of the Sales and Systems Integration Division.

2018

- A new US head office opens in Los Angeles, California.
- Solotech acquires UK-based audio services leader SSE Audio Group (SSE, Wigwam, Capital Sound and Sigma Products) located in Manchester, Birmingham and London.
- Appointment of Mickey Curbishley as President, Live Productions Division in the USA and UK.

2019

- Solotech builds upon its positioning in the United States with the acquisition of J Sound Services (JSS) in Nashville.
- London-based BCS Audio Ltd joins SSE Audio Group.

2020

- In February, Solotech acquires Pro Sound, Inc., a highly regarded audio, video, lighting and broadcast integration company, headquartered in Miami, Florida with offices and warehouses in Orlando, Pensacola and Los Angeles.
- Solotech also becomes the owner of Pro Sound, Inc.’s Stage Equipment and Lighting (SEAL) brand as well as affiliates Pro Sound CA, Inc., and Show Systems, Inc.
- In October, Solotech takes ownership of Miami StageCraft, a lighting sales and integration company located in Miami, Florida.

2021

- Solotech acquires Morris Light & Sound and reinforces its reach for a powerful presence and offering in the United States.
- Creation of the new Media and Entertainment Technologies Division at Solotech to cover the spectrum of emerging technologies.
- Solotech confirms its position as the leading Canadian partner in AV systems sales and integration with the acquisition of CBCI Telecom, a leader in providing the most comprehensive audiovisual and videoconferencing solutions. This acquisition allows Solotech to expand its presence in Halifax and Calgary.
- Solotech acquires Waveform Entertainment, a key esports and virtual event solutions player.
- Launch of Solotech’s expanded US Online Store, following the addition of ProSound And Stage Lighting (PSSL.com).
- Solotech acquires XR Studios, expanding virtual production services with an L.A.-dedicated campus for extended reality.

2022

- Solotech celebrates its 45th anniversary.
- Solotech Nashville moves to a new strategic location.
