An experienced MIG/ Aluminium TIG Welder is required to join a high performing team at our BCS Audio warehouse in Fareham, Southampton. The MIG/ TIG welder will be working alongside the BCS manufacturing department , who manufacture and distribute flight cases and transit cases for the transportation and storage of any delicate hi-tech equipment.
The primary role is to weld OEM and custom products in both mild steel and aluminium in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ability to weld both TIG and MIG to a high standard within short timeframes , and read from technical drawings are key to the role. Our aluminium products are welded to a raw finish and are comprised of smaller assemblies being welded to a larger frame using different profiles and thicknesses. All welds must be of high quality and aesthetically correct. All products have set welding times which need to be adhered to.
• Reading technical drawings and cutting lists to cut Steel and Aluminium to length.• Welding OEM and custom products to a high quality adhering to correct time frames.• To maintain and promote safe working practices within the department, including the correct operation of tools and equipment and use of PPE.• To assist with monitoring stock levels and working with managers to re-order where necessary.• To ensure the welding room is maintained to a clean and organised and standard.• To identify improvements to processes and procedures through continuous improvement and close liaison with managers and identify ways to improve cost effectiveness, and where appropriate, generate income.• The role may be required to assist, or cover for, other roles within the operation for which full training / support will be given.• To dispose of waste materials in the relevant bins during and at the end of shift.• Assist with the unloading and storage of incoming materials.• Ensure end of shift shutdown procedures are carried out.• Maintenance of welding room equipment and machinery.
• Extensive MIG/TIG Welding experience• Experience of welding and fabricating from design drawings• Experience of hand/power tools, pillar drills, Steel and Aluminium saws, grinding equipment and milling machinery.• Experience of following technical drawings unaided.• Experience of working with accurate measurements to within 1mm.• Right to work and remain in the UK
