2021

Solotech has supplied a comprehensive tour grade audio installation package for Woolwich Works, a new creative district for London on the site of Royal Arsenal

Woolwich Works: A creative District for London

Woolwich Works is a landmark, multi-million pound restoration project by Royal Borough of Greenwich to transform the historic site of Royal Arsenal into a new 15,000sqm creative district for London. A multi-disciplinary arts hub, the site includes theatres, concert venues, dance studios, a recording studio, offices and places to entertain.

As the theatre is designed to be completely flexible, the audio package for the venue needed to be equaly flexible. The audio design was put together by Paul Gillieron of Gillieron Scott Acoustic Consultants. Gillieron Scott specified a d&b audiotechnik tour grade system and we were awarded the contract after a competitive tender process.

The Audio Installation : A Powerful Flexible Setup

Solotech’s installation consisted of Four d&b audiotechnik V10P loudspeakers (two per side) with four d&b auditechnik G-Subs make up the main PA, with eight E8s available for front fill across the stage lip. Six Ti10Ps have been flown as delays and are the only permanently installed speakers in the system, ensuring even coverage and SPLs to the rear of the auditorium. On stage there are six d&b M4 monitors available and the complete package is powered by five D20 amplifiers and a 30D amplifier for the T-Series.

Included in the sale is a Yamaha QL1 digital console with RIO1608 stage box, a microphone and RF package as well as a comprehensive line system. The system has been supplied with flightcases and wheelboards from in-house manufacturing arm Sigma Fabrications, for transport and storage when the kit is not in use.

In addition to the main theatre, a separate portable d&b system has also been supplied for smaller events in and around the Woolwich Works complex. Four d&b E8s complete with flying brackets and stands and a pair of E15x subwoofers are powered by a single D20 amplifier. Again, the system is tour packaged with flightcases for easy transportation between venues.

Woolwich Works: A High-End Audio Solution

“Solotech has specified a high end system that is able to cope with the myriad of different applications we throw at it, which can be anything from the spoken word through to high SPL musical events. The touring spec means that we can quickly set it up and pack it down, adapt it for different configurations in the theatre and store it safely when it’s not in use.”

Andy Sellars – Woolwich Works Technical Manager

“It was great to work with the team at Woolwich Works. They have a system that not only sounds great but is rider friendly for visiting artists and will serve them well for many years to come.”
